This ultrasound scanner is of similar quality to those found in hospitals today. With ultrasound, we can look at certain organs in the chest and abdomen in detail, to give us an understanding of what is going on internally in our patients. We have a special interest in Cardiology (heart problems), and, with this machine, we can examine the inside of the heart in detail, assess chamber sizes, valve function, wall thicknesses, and even measure the velocity (speed of blood flow) and direction of blood flow within specific areas of the heart.
We are happy to accept cardiology or diagnostic imaging referrals from other practices. Our latest investment, the ATL HDI 5000 has enhanced power doppler and colour flow capabilities, improving further the information we can derive from abdominal or thoracic scans. We are confident that our diagnostic imaging is second to none.
We offer a full cardiology referral service, including ECG, X rays , doppler systolic BP, echocardiography and endoscopy/broncho-alveolar lavage. Echocardiography would include standard 2 D and M- mode evaluation, colour flow doppler , and spectral (pulsed wave and continuous wave) doppler interrogations. We are also happy to give opinions on pericardial effusions, perform pericadiocentesis and are equipped to perform exploratory thoracotomy, sub-total pericardiectomy, PDA closure etc
